Events: Annual General Meeting 2003

On 5th April 2003, 24 of our members met at Oxen, our member Alan Watson's restaurant which is situated in Malmskillnadsgatan in Stockholm. Alan and his staff generously provided delicious open sandwiches which were washed down with a glass of excellent wine.

The meeting was chaired by our President, Georgina Fornhammar. She thanked the committee for their work during the past year - and praised this homepage!
Thomas Smith and Don Gillam were chosen to verify the minutes.

The annual report was enclosed with the summons to the meeting and no one had any comments to make other than to thank the committee for their work. Gerd Laine-Almgren, our auditor, gave her report and went over the treasurer's report in Fiona MacPherson's absence (due to a broken ankle). We're not in the red and this year the Burns Supper did not run at a loss - thanks to Thomas Smith's sterling efforts in organizing the lottery.
The committee was absolved of legal responsibility.

Elections were as follows: -

President
Georgina Fornhammar

Committee Members
Catherine McLaughlin, Fiona MacPherson, Graham Brodie and Stan Milne

Deputy Members
Judith Vitez and Anki Landström

Auditor
Gerd Laine-Almgren (George Cook is unable to continue and we would like to thank him for his many years of service.)

Deputy Auditor
Thomas Smith

Electoral Committee
Ian Fleming, Rebecca MacPherson and Thomas Sinclair

The annual subscription was discussed and it was agreed that from January 2004 it will be raised to 100kr for a single member and 150kr for couples and families. On reaching the age of sixteen children will pay single membership.

After the meeting was closed there followed an informal malt whisky tasting where members were able to compare the flavours of Laphroaig, Glenlivet and Auchentoshan at a very modest price, though there were those with more adventurous palates who ventured much further a field. To say that Oxen is very well-stocked with single malts is something of an understatement.

There was a warm and friendly atmosphere throughout and one of our longstanding members was heard to remark that it was the best AGM in the society's history.
