Events: The Burn's supper 2004
As has become a longstanding tradition. we held our annual Burns Supper on Saturday 24th January 2004, at K1, the Officers' Mess of Kungliga Livgardets Dragoner.
Robert Wallgren Nilsson piped us in and Graham Brodie was the Steward (toastmaster).
The evening began when the President of the Caledonian Society welcomed guests, read out a fraternal greeting from Todd J. Wilkinson, Convenor of the Springfield (Missouri) Saint Andrew & Burns Society and President of the Celtic Society of the Ozarks and proposed a toast to Mr Wilkinson and the Springfield (Missouri) Saint Andrew & Burns Society.
Our guest of honour, His Excellency the British Ambassador, Anthony Cary C.M.G. proposed the toast to their Majesties the King and Queen of Sweden and Mr P.O. Wallgren toasted her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Mr Stan Milne addressed the haggis.
Anki Landström recited the Selkirk Grace.
The Reverend Georgina Fornhammar McEwan delivered the Immortal memory of Robert Burns.
Mr Christopher Webster toasted the lassies and Jeanette Clayton, later replied on their behalf.
Professor Wilhelm Engström proposed the traditional toast to the Horse.
Emily McEwan Fornhammar sang a selection of Burns' songs accompanied by Fredrik Hermansson on piano much to the appreciation of the guests.
Fiona MacPherson and P.O. Wallgren conducted the lottery.

The tables in the magnificent dining room at K1 await the arrival of the guests.
Congenial company and pleasant surroundings meant that everybody soon relaxed and began to enjoy themselves
...with the possible exception of those who were to make speeches.
